Son of an Onion Man

"I thoroughly enjoyed reading Son of an Onion Man. What I liked most were the stories and the characters—I found myself looking forward to each new Griff-O-Gram and wondering what quirky observation or entertaining character would appear next.

There’s something especially enjoyable about reading these pieces together as a collection. They offer a glimpse into a particular time and place, but the humor and personalities come through in a way that still feels fresh. I found myself smiling, laughing, and occasionally thinking, “I know someone just like that!”

More than anything, I enjoyed getting to know Ike a little better through his writing. The stories are personal, funny, and full of the kind of everyday observations that make good storytelling so much fun.

"Reading Son of an Onion Man was delightful for me—not just because Ike is my brother, but because so many of the stories brought back memories of growing up together in Princeton.

I’ve known these characters, places, and stories in one way or another for a long time, so it was special treat to see them through Ike’s eyes. His Griff-O-Grams capture the humor in everyday life and the personalities of the people around us. Some made me laugh because I could picture the person or situation so clearly.

What I enjoyed most was seeing how Ike remembered those years and turned those memories into stories that other people can enjoy, too. There’s so much family and small-town friendships  woven through these pages.

I may be a little biased because I’m his sister, but I genuinely enjoyed the book. It brought back some wonderful memories and gave me a few laughs along the way.
