Now, more than 35 years later, those columns have been gathered into a book that offers a funny, affectionate glimpse of a very different Princeton—and a time when a small-town newspaper could be a window into the character of a community.

Between 1986 and 1989, Ike Griffin's weekly Griff-O-Grams in The Princeton Herald chronicled life's lessons with warmth, wit, and wisdom. These stories wander from front porches and onion fields to distant countries and unforgettable adventures, always returning to the values of family, faith, hard work, and community.
Collected here for the first time, these essays are more than a memoir – they are a celebration of a place, a time, and the people whose lives remind us that the strongest roots are often found close to home.

Ike Griffin grew up in Princeton, Texas, where his family packed and shipped Sombrero Brand onions during the years when the town was known as the "Onion Capital of Texas." Although his work and travels eventually took him around the world, Princeton always remained home.
In 1986, he revived the family tradition of the Griff-O-Gram by writing a weekly column for The Princeton Herald. Through stories of family, neighbors, business, faith, travel, and community, he sought to preserve the spirit of the town and the lessons learned from a lifetime of experience.
